Feeding Ireland's Future Forum

Sep 11 2015 Iveagh House

An Tánaiste and Minister for State Kevin Humphreys attended the Feeding Ireland’s Future 2015 Forum September 11th, 2015 at Iveagh House to recognise the 26 companies who participated in this year’s Skills for Work Week held in March. This initiative, now in it’s 2nd year, led by ECR Ireland in collaboration with companies involved in the grocery trade, DSP & Intreo was hugely successful with 26 companies, 1,264 participants, 66 locations and 107 sessions.

Michaela Teeling, who has recently been employed at BWG foods from the live register, as a direct result of the Feeding Ireland’s Future initiative, spoke on what the programme meant to her and how it gave her the confidence to enter the workplace. The Tanaiste was happy to have the opportunity to present a framed certificate of participation to each company and encouraged them to be an integral part of the jobs-led economic recovery that is vital to Ireland’s sustained growth. Declan Carolan announced that Feeding Ireland’s Future Skills for Work Week would run again next year from Feb 29th – March 4th with the same successful formula that has worked up to now but with the addition of workshops to be held at Youthreach offices throughout Ireland, with the potential to reach thousands more young people, preparing them for work. @ECR_FIF

Thank-you to all who were able to attend. We hope it was an enjoyable experience and encourages you to be a part of Feeding Ireland’s Future for 2016 to be held on Feb 29th – March 4th. We are currently in discussion with Youthreach in the hope of offering workshops in pre-employment skills to many of their centres throughout the country as part of an enhanced Skills for Work Week in 2016.
