Efficient Consumer Response Ireland is about companies working together to satisfy Irish consumer wishes and to drive out unnecessary costs from the supply chain.

Through the years, the ECR movement has enhanced value delivered to consumers by providing a series of practical improvement concepts for Shopper Demand Management, Supply Chain Management & Data Management. ECR has many publications & templates that suggest best practice processes for improving operations and satisfying consumer expectations.

Additionally, ECR Ireland facilitates collaborative projects where retailers & suppliers work together to develop best practice with the objective of sharing these with the industry.

John Casey

John Casey joined Allied Foods in 1997 from Fyffes plc. As Allied Group Managing Director since 2004 and Director and Divisional MD from 1998, John led the development and implementation of strategy for the business over the past decade. During the period the business evolved from its origins as a frozen food wholesaler to become one of the key temperature controlled supply chain partners to the leading Irish retailers, food service operators and international manufacturers operating in the Irish Market. John is also a director of the divisional boards of DCC Foods and DCC Sercom Solutions.

John previously held a number of senior management positions in the UK, where he managed businesses in sales, marketing and procurement for Fyffes plc.


James Wilson,
Trading Director, Superquinn

James Wilson joined Superquinn in May 2006, from Musgrave Supervalu Centra (MSVC) where he had been Trading Director since 2001,during one of the must successful periods for the SV and CT brands in Ireland. He has taken a broader role in Superquinn and is also responsible for Marketing, Distribution, Internet Shopping and New Product Development as well as Purchasing.

Prior to MSVC he worked for 7 years at Asda and then Walmart in a number of roles beginning as a Business Analysis Manager into Category Manager and eventually becoming a Buying Director for the last three years, overseeing the integration of Asda buying into Walmart.

James previously worked at Procter & Gamble and Arthur D Little Consultants in a business Analyst Role. He holds a 1st Class Degree in Chemical Engineering from Imperial College, London University.

Declan Carolan
General Manager, ECR Ireland

Declan Carolan is General Manager of ECR Ireland having joined ECR in December 2005. Previously, Declan was Supply Chain Manager for Superquinn where he was responsible for centralising Superquinn's distribution, the introduction of Stock Control, automatic forecasting & EDI into the company and for all product availability & supply chain operations. Declan holds a BSC(Mgmt) from Trinity College, Dublin and an MBA in Retailing & Wholesaling from Stirling University, Scotland.
